Resumen:
The silverside Odontesthes bonariensis Valenciennes, 1835  is distributed in freshwater and estuarine water bodies of Argentina . The type locality is Montevideo (Uruguay) and its original distribution is associated with lentic and lotic aquatic systems of provinces of Cordoba, La Pampa, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero, Misiones, Entre Ríos, Tucumán, Corrientes, Salta, San Luis and Buenos Aires. The Plata Basin is formed by Uruguay river and Paraná river, and its tributaries and, discharged in the Río de la Plata. The available information on the distribution of O. bonariensis was reviewed by Liotta (2005). This author reviewed the presence of silverside in 89 localities of different aquatic ecosystem. The authors of present work studied the seasonal movements of silverside during 2008 to 2010, in Lower the Plata Basin. In this context, the silverside was found in the winter (May-September) in different waterbodies and new locations of Lower the Plata Basin.  Fish were collected with fishing nets and from local sport fishermen. The fishes were determined according to the taxonomic key proposed by Tombari (2008, unpublished data) using the morphology and morphometry features of otolith and the hemal arches of caudal vertebrae. Otoliths were extracted and deposited in the otolith collection (COLV -UBA). New records included 7 waterbodies and 8 new localities. These records are in Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires provinces (Argentina).
