Resumen:
A total-evidence approach reveals a new genus in the Neotropical (NT) lineage of the rove-beetle subtribe Philonthina. Carmenlyrus gen. nov. is described and illustrated, including four new species, C. adrianae, C. newtoni, C. tapanti and C. thayerae, the type species of the genus. Phylogenetic relationships within the NT lineage of Philonthina as well as those of Carmenlyrus with other Neotropical representatives are newly assessed and discussed.
