This work preents the factors producing oxygen isotopic fractionation and the techniques used in the Stable Isotope Laboratory of the Instituto de Geocronología y Geología Isotópica ( INGEIS). Obtained results on the Laboratory Internal Standards and on rain fall water samples of two stations in Buenos Aires are given. The oxygen isotopic composition (d18O) ofthe rain water samples is correlated with the mean monthly temperature; the results areclose to that expected for the latitude, based in other studies.
