Massive stars are very relevant astrophysics objects, which affect their surroundings from planetary to galactic scales. In this contribution, I describe the present state of three fundamental aspects in the knowledge of these stars: the probable existence of an upper limit on stellar masses; the characterization of isolated massive stars as runaways from their natal regions; and the frequency of multiplicity among massive stars.
