Resumen:
What are the impacts of cognitive capitalism on ICT workers in a peripheral country? Which education and training must they have to become competitive in the ICT market? How is surveillance capitalism used to control teleworkers? Which are the differential roles of men and women in ICT industries? This paper addresses a sparsely transited topic in Latin America: the social and psychological dimensions of the impacts of the pandemic in the working conditions on ICT workers in Argentina, and the changes in their lifestyles. It focuses on ICT workers´ education and lifelong learning, labor conditions, job rotation, telework, gender issues, surveillance. Subjective issues, such as psychosocial risks, prospects, techno-stresses, expectations, and others, are also considered through a multidisciplinary viewpoint, joining Sociology and Psychology. The work has been carried out through desk research, completed with interviews with key informants in the IT sector: entrepreneurs, workers, researchers, and trade unionists. The paper is part of a current research developed by the authors and their team for the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion: "Technologies 4.0 for Industry in Argentina - Analysis and R&D&I Tools for Public Policy Formulation and The Development of Industry 4.0".
