Bulls and Bears in a Pedestrian Counterflow System

The parallelism between observables of two social and competitive systems are studied: a) a pedestrian counter flow through a narrow opening, and b) a financial returns time series. In the first case, the observable is the flow rate at the opening which changes in sign and magnitude. Similarities and differences are discussed from a statistical point of view.
