Resumen:
An Artificial Pancreas (AP) is a system to automatically regulate the glucose levelin Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM), and reduce the constant burden of this diseaseas much as possible. Although several AP schemes exist [1, 2], here we considerthat only insulin is infused, and both measurement and infusion are performed subcutaneouslyvia a Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) sensor, and an insulinpump. This represents a single-hormone scheme based on a minimally invasive APsystem that allows ambulatory use, but unfortunately, makes the control problemmuch harder. The main obstacles that have to be taken into account in designing AP controllersare:- lag-times and errors, both in glucose measurement and insulin action;- nonlinearities;- large inter? and intrapatient uncertainties; and- technical difficulties (sensor dropouts and insulin set failure).......
