Molecular characterization of the genus Fragaria interespecific hybrids

In the Active Germplasm Bank (BGA) of strawberry (Tucumán, Argentina), directed crosses were performed between wild species of the genus Fragaria, F. chiloensis x F. virginiana. The aim of the crosses is to obtain fertile intraspecific hybrids, better adapted to region environmental conditions.  The reproductive behavior of these wild strawberry genotypes preserved in the BGA was analyzed using the microsatellites technique. Four putative hybrids obtained in the crosses were characterized molecularly.
