Resumen:
Groundnut ringspot virus (GRSV) and tomatochlorotic spot virus (TCSV) share biological and serologicalproperties, so their identification is carried out bymolecular methods. Their genomes consist of three segmentedRNAs: L, M and S. The finding of a reassortantbetween these two viruses may complicate correct virusidentification and requires the characterization of thecomplete genome. Therefore, we present for the first timethe complete sequences of all the genes encoded by aGRSV isolate. The high level of sequence similaritybetween GRSV and TCSV (over 90 % identity) observedin the genes and proteins encoded in the M RNA supportprevious results indicating that these viruses probably havea common ancestor.
