Resumen:
We report the first genome sequence of aColocasia bobone disease-associated virus (CBDaV)derived from bobone-affected taro [Colocasia esculenta L.Schott] from Solomon Islands. The negative-strand RNAgenome is 12,193 nt long, with six major open readingframes (ORFs) with the arrangement 30-N-P-P3-M-G-L-50.Typical of all rhabdoviruses, the 30 leader and 50 trailersequences show complementarity to each other. Phylogeneticanalysis indicated that CBDaV is a member of thegenus Cytorhabdovirus, supporting previous reports ofvirus particles within the cytoplasm of bobone-infectedtaro cells. The availability of the CBDaV genome sequencenow makes it possible to assess the role of this virus inbobone, and possibly alomae disease of taro and confirmthat this sequence is that of Colocasia bobone disease virus(CBDV).
