Resumen:
A species becomes nonnative outside its native range, but the question is how to define native range. Invasion science has discussed widely its core concepts, as naturalized, invasive or ecological impact to name a few, but the concept of native range has received so little attention that a formal definition does not exist in the subdiscipline. In this paper, I discuss certain issues that can impede a formal definition of native range?particularly the sometimes arbitrariness of the spatial and temporal limits to such an area. My effort here is to foster the curiosity of the reader by formulating broad questions such as whether or not we can use invasion theory to define the native range for those species without nonnative ranges
