Resumen:
The aim of this work was to analyze the effects of flooding depth on N and P partition in young willows plants during the post-stress recovery. Material: 2 willow commercial clones (Salix alba x Salix matsudana hybrids) obtained by the INTA breeding program: Agronales INTA CIEF and Carapachay INTA CIEF. These genotypes had different flooding tolerance. Experimental design: completely randomized, with 4 repetitions per genotype and treatment. 2 experiments: partial flooding (PF) and total submergence. Measurements: growth, N (Kjeldahl, 5) and P concentration. In the partial flooding treatment, the stressed plants continued to grow in height during the 21 days of treatment. While the totally flooded plants did not grow. After flooding, growth restarted in the TS treatment but the height was still lower than the control plants after 28 days. Floodwater depth affected N and P partition, their concentration increased significantly in leaves in PF but not in the TS treatment. The plants of the TS treatment experienced a transient increase in stem nutrient concentration, that did not persist after the end of the stress episode. There were no differences in N and P concentration in roots.
