The collated summaries in this volume represent a sample of the initial findings of the Mobility and Health Programme. Mobility and Health is an international networked research programme exploring the links between mobility and health for poor communities in developing countries. The programme brought together 25 researchers from Africa, Asia and Latin America. The programme objectives are: 1) Increase our knowledge base on the relationship between mobility and the achievement of the health related Millennium Development Goals. 2) Enable transport professionals to take a holistic, health sensitive approach to the planning and implementation of transport interventions. 3) Sensitise the health sector to mobility and health issues.
