Resumen:
Artemia salina is a brackish water crustacean, sensitive to a wide range of chemical compounds with biological activity, being a useful tool for the screening of pharmacological compounds. Consequently, it was proposed to be used for toxicity bioassays (1,2), including the analysis of plant extracts, cyanobacterial toxins, heavy metals, pesticides, fungal extracts, among others. In many cases the implementation of this bioassay has limitations due to the small amount of available biological material. The aim of this work was to modify variables such as final volume and number of crustaceans used in the bioassay and to evaluate the significance of such changes.
