Resumen:
The Bandoneon is a distinctive free-reed instrument with ties to Tango culture and Latin American music. However, the scarcity of manufacturers and the related high retail prices are restricting access to the instrument for new generations of musicians. The Bandoneon 2.0 project aims to create an expressive and accessible new version of the instrument. In this work, we present a full electronic bandoneon with a custom sound synthesis system, and an acoustic measurement system for analyzing the characteristics of the acoustic bandoneon. Analyzing the sound and pressure signalswe characterized several sound attributes which are utilized in a synthesis model made in Faust DSP. The instrument can achieve expressiveness and positive engagement while playing. We aim to produce an instrument that can be used in recreational, academic, and professional contexts to address to the current sociocultural demand.
