Resumen:
Droughts affected more than 1 billion people worldwide during the last 20 years. The La Plata Basin (LPB) was no exception to this hazard, whose impacts were evident in the reduction in crop yields, reduced cattle products, streamflow deficiencies and consequently problems for hydroelectric power generation. Therefore, the quantitative knowledge of the properties of droughts in LPB is an important aspect of the planning and management of agricultural practices and water resources.
