Resumen:
The knowledge of the regional pattern of dry days (days without rainfall) and their interannual-to-interdecadal variability could be a useful tool for monitoring of extreme conditions, such as droughts. Due to the complexity of the commonly used indices, the motivation of this research is to propose a new and easier index for drought monitoring. In addition, the temporal variability of this index adequately describes dry and wet periods in Argentina.
