Experiments focused to investigate the phenomena of resonant inelastic x–ray scattering (RIXS) succeeded only when intense and tunable sources of x–rays (synchrotrons) were available along with high resolution spectrometers for the energy analysis of the scattered x–rays. First systematic and accurate study about the essential features of RIXS was made by Eisenberger et al. In that pioneering experiment RIXS phenomena were investigated at the K absorption edge of Cu but involving only the 2p32 !1s deexcitation channel. In this report we present a high resolution study of the main fingerprints both of 1s2p12 and 1s2p32 RIXS processes at the K–edge of Cu. The linear dispersion of the red–shifted Raman line and the narrowing effect in the vicinity of the K– ionization threshold were studied.
