Co-production of climate knowledge products in the Department of Bermejo in the Gran Chaco wetland area of Argentina

In the framework of the symmetrical dialogue between scientists and sectoral actors and an implicated science approach, the CLIMAX project (Hernandez et al. 2019) has as one of its aims  the co-production of climate information tools to underpin local family agriculture. For this purpose, five co-production workshops were held between 2016 and 2018 with producers and institutions of the Department of Bermejo in the Gran Chaco wetland area of Argentina. The results of these workshops are inputs to design monitoring tools and climate forecast according to local needs. We describe two co-produced products: a community rain monitoring network and a cell-phone application providing county-level climate services. The objective of the community network is to collaborate in the improvement of the productive systems and the daily management of the activities influenced by climate. The monitoring data is free and open access via a cell-phone application called ?Dialogo Bermejo?. Through the co-production process, meteorological and climatic information products valuables to the community were determined, as well as their presentation form. The prototype also includes the provision and visualization of daily rainfall observations made through the community network installed in the Bermejo Department within the framework of the Project.
