Resumen:
In this work we analyse empirically the effects of UV radiation in a temperature gradient in two Boeckella species with a different distribution patterns. Boeckella antiqua is rectricted to a few pond located in North western Patagonia (Argentina) while B. gracilis occurs along a latitudinal gradient from 6ºN Colombia to 49ºS in Patagonia, Argentina. In both species we studied the bioaccumulation of the photoprotective compounds (mycosporine like amino acids and carotenoids) as well as mortality and clutch size in different radiation treatment and along a temperature gradient (5 to 20ºC). In both species, at least one of the rates involved in PPCs bioaccumulation related significantly to temperature. Furthermore, in both Boeckella mortaloty increased with temperature and UV. The interaction of these variables was also significant suggesting that increase in temperature to generate photo-toxicity stress in Boeckella species.
