Resumen:
L shell X-ray production cross sections were measured for mid-Z elements (Sr and Mo) by proton impact. Proton energies ranged from 300 keV to 3 MeV. In this region there were few or any experimental results published [1]. K and L shell X-ray production cross sections of Ti and Cu were also obtained in order to normalize our results, bearing in mind that their cross sections have been vastly measured and modeled. The results obtained here are in general well agreement with those predicted by the ECPSSR theory and with other experimental results, see figure below as an example. The thick sample method employed to obtain the X-ray production cross sections showed good results within the measured energy range, leading to the possibility for its use in other applications, like the determination of satellite lines cross sections (low probability events). All spectra were fitted by a novel open software for PIXE semi-quantitative analysis, named PAMPA [2], which take into account several physical characteristics belonging to the X-ray production, absorption and detection in order to model the X-ray spectrum.
