Resumen:
Presentación oral y presentación de poster:There are many challenges in the development of surgery devices that can prevent infections during and post-interventions in bone therapies. To provide an ambience regarding this problematic many factors are involved: the basic requirements of the implants as mechanical resistance and biocompatibility, and more specific properties as a tunable shape, a capability of osteointegration and the possibility to delivery antibiotics. Silk fibroin (SF), a natural fibrous protein used in biomedical applications has been studied for bone tissue engineering (BTE) due to its mechanical properties, biocompatibility and biodegradability. However, low osteogenic capacity as well as the necessity to reinforced the protein mechanically for some orthopedic applications prompts the need for further designs for SF-based materials for BTE bone. Different 3D-printed porous Ti and SF-based scaffolds were developed to promote osteointegration and delivery properties towards antibiotic ambience.
