Resumen:
In this paper, an interturn short-circuit fault detection strategy for Induction Machines (IM) by using the Instantaneous Power Theory is proposed. In order to analyze the effects of stator fault, a dynamic IM model including short-circuit fault in any of the phase-windings is used. Based on the voltages and currents measured on the IM terminals IM, the Instantaneous Power Theory is used for calculate the active and reactive power current component in the α-β reference frame. Finally, the sequence decomposition of the active and reactive currents is performed to determine the effects of the stator fault, particularly when the power supply voltage is distorted with the 5th harmonic. Simulation results are presented with different fault severities for distorted power supply voltages and, in addition, the effects produced by the voltage imbalances are analyzed.
