Resumen:
The rotor asymmetry introduced by broken bars produces modulation of the stator currents, variations in the mean torque and oscillation at two times the slip frequency in the electromagnetic torque. The magnitude of the stator current modulation can be used to diagnose problems on the rotor. However, some load conditions or power quality problems lead to similar effects on the IM currents and torque. Therefore, it is interesting to know the magnitude of the effects on the currents and torque due to broken bars on the rotor. This paper presents a steady state model of the induction motor that may include the asymmetries in the rotor circuit. The proposed model is obtained from a sinusoidal model in q-d variables, over a fixed to the rotor reference frame. The obtained model considers that the IM speeds remains constant and, because of that, has some limitations. The performance of the proposed model is validated with experimental laboratory results, obtained in a wound rotor IM. The results show that the model can properly estimate the amplitude modulation of currents and the effect on the mean torque.
