Revisiting Royal Economies in the Southern Levant during the Late Bronze and Iron II Ages: Anthropological Observations

The intention of this presentation is not to analyse the archaeological data and the epigraphy of royal economies in the Southern Levant during the Late Bronze and Iron II ages, but rather to offer some general observations about the models for interpreting such evidence, as well as some themes and problems related also to the evidence and dependent on the referred interpretive models. In this sense, my perspective is anthropological, built on ethnographic and historical data, and it approaches the socio-economics and the socio-politics of these two periods through that lens.
