Resumen:
The aim of this research was studying the existence of coping profiles in adolescents of Buenos Aires and their relation to psychological symptoms. The sample consisted of 459 adolescents of ages between 12 and 18 years old M=15.51; SD=1.80; 51.6% male and 48.4% female). The main results indicated that a threecluster solution was the most appropriate. They were differentiated according the frequency of use of coping strategies. The three clusters in the case of women were: low copers, approximative copers and avoidance copers. In the case of man they were: low copers, moderate copers and high copers. Women of the avoidance copers cluster and man of the moderate and high copers clustersshowed more psychological symptoms compared to the other clusters. Results show the importance of studying coping by the use of profiles considering all coping strategies simultaneously.
