Resumen:
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the economic-financial feasibility of implementing energy efficiency projects in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Argentina. Based on technical improvement of energy efficiency, four different scenarios are contrasted, considering different levels of subsidies for electricity and carbon tax prices. As a decision-making tool, the results of the net real value (VAN) are analyzed. The results of the analysis show that, in a context like Argentina, with subsidized electricity rates and a substantially lower carbon tax, does not constitute a scenario that stimulates investment in energy efficiency and makes it difficult to meet sustainability goals. However, some changes in energy policy may lead to encourage such investments and its associated benefits.
