Resumen:
We present, for the first time, the discovery of a new ionic liquid that are amphiphilic and can form reverse micelles and spontaneous large unilamellar vesicles. Thus, we show the synthesis of a new catanionic surfactant-like IL made by the combination of two very well known ionic surfactants that form RMs: sodium 1,4-bis-2-ethylhexylsulfosuccinate (AOT) and benzyl-n-hexadecyldimethylammonium chloride (BHDC), without its counterions giving genesis to AOT-BHD. We clearly demonstrate the formation of RMs in benzene and large unilamellar vesicles (that form spontaneously without the help of any mechanical or chemical methods) in water by using dynamic light scattering (DLS) and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) techniques.
