Resumen:
The styrene oxidation is academically and commercially important reaction for the synthesis of two important products, benzaldehyde and styrene oxide. The use of H2O2 for oxidizing organic substrates has environmental implications, being water the only chemical by-product of oxidation reactions. A study concerning the use of Ni-containing molecular sieves (ZSM-11) with MEL topologies for the styrene oxidation by hydrogen peroxide was performed. The influence of styrene/H2O2 molar ratio and the reaction temperature effect has been investigated. The catalytic properties of Ni-HZSM-11 samples prepared by wetness impregnation and ion-exchange have been analyzed. High benzaldehyde selectivity was observed. The major styrene conversion was observed at R: 1.7 over ion- exchanged zeolites and the minor styrene conversion was observed at R: 3 over impregnated samples at 60°C, the highest temperature studied.
