Resumen:
The degradation of chemicals present in wastes by heterogeneous photocatalysis is an important issue and its study is a constantly growing field. Different heteropolyoxometalates (POM) are widely used as oxidation as well as acid catalysts [1]. They are also employed as effective homogeneous photocatalysts in the degradation of organic pollutants in water [2]. Some of the major drawbacks of POM as catalysts are related to their high solubility in oxygenated solvents and their relatively low specific surface area [3]. Supporting the POM on solids with high surface area is a useful method for improving catalytic performance in liquid?solid reactions. Zeolite Y, with uniform pore size and high specific surface area, is considered as good material to support and stabilize POM [4].In the present work, we present the results of the characterization and the photocatalytic activity of tungstophosphoric acid supported onto zeolite Y, by using 4-Chlorophenol (4-CP) as a target degraded compound. The photocatalytic degradation of 4-CP has become a standard reaction for evaluating experimental parameters in photocatalysis
