Lipids and their transformations in the liver cell nuclei

Composition of lipids and their importance en cellular nuclei of rat liver, the existence of a fatty acid activating reaction in such nuclei produced by the acyl-CoA synthetase, and the desaturation of radioactive eicosatrienoic acid to arachidonic acid by D5 desaturase, are described. A study upon the kinetic characteristics of these enzymes was done. The purification methods of liver nuclei and further assessment of their purity discussed in order to prove the existence of these enzymes in nuclei.
