Resumen:
CD-Database of Cactus seeds in Access system.Copyright (2009) Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.‘The Cactus Seed Biology Database’ contains information on over 350 species of Cactaceaewith up to 15 traits on seeds such as germination, mass and oil content, and on plants suchas physiology (including images), uses and distribution. It consists of data from (1)publications and the grey literature, and (2) from new data generated during laboratorystudies. The new data records were achieved using seed collections provided by many of thecollaborating groups and from collections currently stored in the Millennium Seed Bank. Theexperimental work was carried out in-country or by staff and visiting collaborators at the SeedConservation Department, Kew (UK).The database provides a unique summary of cactus seed biology and is the first publicationfrom this international project, with the aim of producing updated versions in the future. It ishoped that the database provides a starting point for many people to appreciate the extent ofour knowledge on cactus seed biology and as vital background material to assist in theconservation of these special plants.
