We read with great interest the article wrote by Nakaseko et al published in the June issue of the Journal of Surgical Research [1]. Authors conducted an elegant study assessing the impact of fresh frozen plasma (FFP) transfusion on long-term outcome and postoperative inflammatory response in patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). After critically reviewing 127 cases and analyzing multiple clinicopathological variables, Nakaseko and colleagues demonstrated that perioperative FFP transfusion was an independent risk factor for both cancer recurrence and poor overall survival after first hepatic resection.
