Conclusions of the Bioenergy and Industrial Biotechnology Workshop, Buenos Aires, December 2013 A three-day workshop was organised to examine the potential for collaborative research between European and South American scientists in the area of using industrial biotechnology to develop sustainable biofuels through plant biomass biorefining. The workshop was sponsored by the BBSRC from the UK and INTA and Ministry of Science and Technology in Argentina, and whilst scientists from these two nations formed the nucleus of the event, the workshop was broadened to include leading researchers from Brazil, Chile, the Netherlands and Sweden to give it a broader inter-regional significance.
