Resumen:
This work seeks to address the characteristics of labor relations strategies registered in MNC’s operating in Argentina. This analysis focuses attention on the distinction between two types of managerial strategies towards employees and their representatives. On the one hand this report defines a strategy based on a direct relationship between management and employees without unions’ mediation at the workplace. On the other hand, this analysis defines a strategy based on an indirect (mediated) relationship between employees and management which implies that union representation matters in order to understand labour relations at the workplace. This study is based on a stratified sample of 155 cases drawn up by sector, size and country of origin over a total population of 577 firms. To the development of this study theoretical assumptions, as well as factor and cluster analyses were carried out.
