Resumen:
THE EFFECT OF CYANOBACTERIAL EXTRACELLULAR PRODUCTS ON PORPHYRIN BIOSYNTHESIS BY RICE CALLUS Zaccaro M1, García I1, Stella A1, Zulpa G1, Palma M2 & Storni M1. 1Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales; 2 Facultad de Agronomía, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Int Güiraldes 2620 (C1428 EHA), Buenos Aires, Argentina.   Many substances have been added to culture in order to promote plant regeneration. Cyanobacteria produce a wide array of substances with biological activity. This work studied the effect of Tolypothrix tenuis extracellular products (EP) on plantlets regeneration, pigments, total free porphyrin, 5-aminolevulinate dehydratase (ALA-D) activity during rice callus differentiation. Embryo calli werw regenerated in Murashige & Skoog medium supplemented with EP sterized by membrane of cellulose acetate (EPAc), nitrocellulose (EPNi) and by autoclave (EPAut), benzyladenine (BA) and benzyladenine + naphthalene acetic acid (BA+NAA). At day 75 calli regeneration percentages wewrw: EPNi (84%)>EPAc (58%)>BA+NAA (45%)>BA (44%)> EPAut (40%). Protein content: BA, BA+NAA and EPNi>EPAc and EPAut. Total free porphyrin and pigments were similar. ALA-D activity: BA; EPAc and EPAut> BA+NAA and EPNi. EP promoted regeneration. The bioactive substance is probably thermalabil and non proteic.
