Resumen:
Egg-shell catalysts are employed in industrial reactions when mass transfer limitations must be eliminated or when heat transfer is to be maximized. For this reason egg-shell catalysts are advantageously used in selective hydrogenation reactions. Manufacture of egg-shell materials is not an easy task and several variables are to be considered (viscosity, solution pH, temperature, etc.) [1]. The synthesis of a new composite support for preparing egg-shell catalysts is presented here. The support has a high mechanical resistance and enables the easy deposition of active metals on a thin superficial layer.
