Resumen:
Recently, some of us reported that 2%Au/CeO2 was a more active catalyst for the WGS reaction as compare to 2%Au/CeO2-Ga2O3, and that this last material was as active as a 3%Au/CeZrOx catalyst for CO oxidation, and even more active than the reference catalyst of the World Gold Council, 2%Au/TiO2 [1]. However, the underlying reasons of the different catalytic performances are unclear. It was assumed that the Au particle size was the main factor in determining such catalytic behaviour, however the redox properties of the support might have a strong influence over the catalytic performance. Thus, we study the redox properties of cerium dioxide modified by gallium cations (Ce/Ga = 75/25 mol/mol, labeled Ce75Ga25) by X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR) and oxygen storage capacity (OSC).
