Resumen:
This paper focuses to improve the capacity and cycle life of Ni/ MHX batteries by optimization of the composition ( active material and additive) and structure of the metal hydride electrode. Teflonized carbons, Vulcan XC-72, Notrit-NK, and Acetilen Black were evaluated as additive material for AB2 and AB4-type alloys. Experiments were conduced to determine the optimub ( i) amount of hydride material in the electrode (ii) ratio of the amount of hydride material to that of electronically conducting material ( iii) percentage of Teflon in the metal hydride electrode. The discharge capacity and cycle life depend on both the type and amount of the additive material.
