EXPRESSION OF PROGESTERONE MEM-BRANE RECEPTOR GENE IN PIGS OVIDUCT

The steroid hormones act modulating the nuclear transcription and the synthesis of proteins through nuclear receptors. But also they act through specific membrane receptors that trigger fast effects. It is known that in pigs oviduct the steroid hormones provide an apt milieu for the transport of gametes, the qualification of the sper-matozoa, the fertilization and the embryogenesis early stages. Since great part of these processes are regulated by the progesterone, is important to investigate the molecular mechanisms involved in this regulation. The objective of these work was to determine the ge-netic expression of the progesterone membrane receptor in pigs oviduct. The oviducts were classified in different stages according to the estrous cycle. After extraction and purification of the RNA, RT-PCR assays showed an specific amplified band. The results in-dicated that the gene of the progesterone receptor is expressed in all the stages of the sexual cycle. In comparison with the expres-sion of b-actin taking as a control of constitutive expressionl, semi quantitative differences were not early observed. Since the actin is also involved in phenomena of cellular response, we thought that it is necessary to use an another constitutive gene to study the proges-terone membrane receptors regulation during the sexual cycle in further assays for confirming the differential expression of this gene.
