EBL: Exciton Blocking layer?

The role of the layer that is usually called "exciton blocking layer" is explored. Evidence suggests that goal of an extra layer that separates the acceptor material with the cathode is more of a protective one rather than to block excitons, however, not any material with the described properties would produce a working device. Care must be taken on the compatibility of the acceptor material, in this case C60, and the "EBL" material.
