Resumen:
The connections among the analyses of practices of memory around contemporary political violence, identity policies and practices of representation are relatively recent and entail several challenges. For six years, I have been carrying out a comparative research in Argentina, Colombia and Guatemala that intertwines space, violence and memory. Through this presentation, I will cover first the theoretical and conceptual background I suggest to approach this intertwining. Second, I will present some of the advances and challenges I have come across in the development of the research, among these: (a) The need to develop a jeu-d?echelles, a game of scales, that allows us to integrate embodied individual suffering and a broader understanding about mass violence. (b) The elaboration of narratives of violence as a problem itself. (c) The adoption of a relational stance on the debates between memory and history. Towards the end, I will make reference to the projections for the following years.
