Resumen:
This study provides histological and ultraestructural evidence of the capacity of Chasmagnathus granulata to perform aerial gas exchange across the lining of branchistegites. Although the lungs of C. granulata seem to be suitable organs for aerial oxygen uptake, the low level of carbonic anhydrase activity compared to the gills, indicate limited capacity to excrete carbon dioxide directly to air, resulting in a limiting factor for this crab to invade land
