Revista indexada en: Sociological Abstracts, Community Services Abstracts, Sage Urban Studies Abstracts, Sage Family Studies Abstracts, Journal of Planning Literature, the National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities, and the Directory of Open Access Journals.The study presented in this paper pertains to a health promotion and AIDS prevention project that took place at junior and senior high schools1 in the city of Junin, Argentina. The project was implemented in 2004, with funding from theWorld Fund for AIDS, TB, and Malaria through the United Nations Program for Development. The project employed participatory methods and rigorous evaluation measures to ensure the full engagement of youth in the community. In this paper we will give a sense of the context in which the study took place, its theoretical underpinnings, the collective research process, and the results of our evaluation.
