Resumen:
We analyze in this work the car-rier frequency o set (CFO) estimation issue ofOFDM-based cooperative communications sys-tems. We focus on the relaying phase of thisscenario, where one or more relaying nodes de-code and forward data, originated by a sourcenode, to a single destination node. For anOFDM symbol to be decoded correctly, all itssubcarriers must be orthogonal. If any relaynode introduce a frequency o set in the as-signed subcarriers subset, orthogonality is lostin the whole symbol and data cannot be recov-ered. A recently proposed training sequence,which consits of one OFDM block with a tilestructure and a number of nulled subcarriers, isstudied here. By using this subcarrier arrange-ment, CFO can be estimated with conventionalsubspace-based methods, such as ESPRIT andMUSIC. In particular, the later achieves a bet-ter performance over a wider range of SNR. De-spite their low computational complexity, thesetechniques evidence a high sensitivity to eigen-value spread, which can be the subject of a fu-ture work.
