Resumen:
Thischapter summarizes and brings a critical evaluation of the advantagesand disadvantages of the properties and applications of chitin forsorption processes. Also discusses potential physical and chemicalmodifications and future considerations. The study of the adsorptiveproperties and the ways for enhancement them or increasing theselectivity for a specific sorbate is a spreading topic as a consequence of the need for more controlled pollutant effluentmanagement. Moreover, the possibilities of isolating valuable ormarketable molecules from those effluents or industrial subproductsdemand the development of novel sorbents that satisfied theregulatory compliments and process economy. Chitin is the second mostabundant natural polymer may, at least potentially, fulfill theserequirements.p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; direction: ltr; color: #000000; line-height: 115%; text-align: left; orphans: 0; widows: 0 }p.western { font-family: "Arial", serif; font-size: 11pt; so-language: en-US }p.cjk { font-family: "Arial"; font-size: 11pt; so-language: zh-CN }p.ctl { font-family: "Arial"; font-size: 11pt; so-language: hi-IN }a:link { so-language: zxx }
