Resumen:
The objective of this work was to gain a deeper insight into the behavior of zinc primers, containing either lamellar zinc alone or lamellar zinc mixed with an extender or with an extender / inhibitor mixture. Several formulations of coatings were designed and manufactured by employing 20 cP chlorinated rubber as binder. Laboratory accelerated tests were carried out by means of salt spray (fog) chamber and 100% relative humidity cabinet. A statistical analysis of the experimental data was performed considering in simultaneous way both dry film blistering resistance and anticorrosive behavior; results indicate that it is possible for every lamellar zinc primer to incorporate an extender of high oil absorption as spacer of the zinc particles and also an inhibitor to improve the performance.
