The effect of spatial layout on motion transparency

The parsing of an image into individual elements is afundamental and basic step in the understanding of visualscenes. It is assumed that it exists a hierarchical order inmotion information processing and that least two mainstages are involved: a local computation of speed followedby an integration stage.However, many experiments have demonstrated a complexrelationship between these stages and, at present, it is stillunclear how the visual system carries the computations out.We developed an experiment to investigate whether theeffect produced by the spatial layout on speed estimationaffects segmentation when it is performed by using speedcues.
