Resumen:
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is gender-dependent in humansand rodents with a high prevalence in males. However, developmentof HCC in males and females is not completely studied. Therefore, the aim of this work was to characterize the differences betweenfemales and males C3H mice regarding their sensitivity todiethylnitrosamine (DEN) in HCC development. DEN was injected(10 mg/kg, i.p.) at 2 weeks old. Mice were euthanized 210 and 300days after DEN administration. Liver sections were analyzed byhistopathology and immunohistochemistry, and cell suspensions byflow cytometry. Liver tumors arose in 100% of males and 62.5%of females. Number of tumor foci was significantly higher in males(p
