Resumen:
Why one is not another? Would it be possible, for us, to exchange brains while remaining the same minds? Were people cloned, could clones keep the same experience of existence that originals used to have? Succeeding in making them to have identical experiences (i.e., mental contents), would turn a clone the original person? Old conundrums, beleaguering the topic of brain-mind relationships, challenge contemporary man - even nowadays in the neuroscience era, even in the face of cognitive research's full bloom. The present anthology fosters up-to-date debates around such conundrums. The book gleans views from a score of academic fields: twenty authors from assorted latitudes shed light on the problem of consciousness and brain-mind relationships. Surmounting huge cultural and disciplinary obstacles, they focus on the ontological status of consciousness, proferring wide, acute, accurate analyses supported by science (physics, zoology, neurobiology, psychopharmacology, medicine, psychiatry, psychology, anthropology, etc.), art, socio-political history, history and philosophy of sciences, and history of ideas.
